A LARGE crowd of shocked health workers flocked to the Nurses’ Home at the Central State Hospital yesterday as news of a colleague’s murder spread.
A young radiographer, Hileni Enkono, was found dead in her bedroom in Block D of the Nurses’ Home early yesterday morning. The news travelled so fast that even Health Minister Richard Kamwi went to the scene to offer his support to family members.It is alleged that Enkono’s boyfriend, who is believed to be from Swakopmund, went to drop off their one-year-old baby at the flat of Enkono’s friend on the same floor. He allegedly also gave Enkono’s room keys to the friend before leaving the building at about 07h00.Enkono’s body was discovered shortly afterwards and the authorities were informed.According to sources at the scene, Enkono’s throat had been cut.Police said her boyfriend was arrested after his family informed the Police of his whereabouts. According to family members at the crime scene, the suspect and Enkono had been in a relationship for more than four years.
