JOHANNESBURG – Sub-Saharan Africa’s biggest mobile operator MTN plans to roll-out a 5 000 km optical fibre network across South Africa estimated to cost 1,3 billion rand over the next two years, it said on Friday.
MTN said in June it may build its own fixed-line network in South Africa to trim the levies it has to pay former monopoly Telkom to use its backbone and to meet demand for Internet access, especially from big corporate clients. Nampa-ReutersNampa-Reuters
