Moto Cross Inter Series goes into second stage

THOSE who missed last Saturday’s first leg still have the opportunity to experience the highlight of the annual Moto Cross Inter Series.

This Saturday the second leg will take place – under the official name “Air Namibia-Pepsi Dirt Busters” – at the Gallina motocross track. A highlight on the day is that the International Open Namibian Champion for 2001, Boyd Karsmakers from the Netherlands, is getting married on the Gallina motocross track. The title International Open Namibian Champion 2005 will be decided on that day, and it is the final of the African Motorcycle Union championships of Southern Africa. In the Open class, Collin Dugmore lies in front with a maximum of 60 points, making him a favourite for gaining the overall victory.Benjamin Kolberg also played to the gallery and landed on a well-deserved second place with 43 points. In third place is Ross Branch from Botswana with 34 points and slightly behind him with two points less is the groom, Boyd Karsmakers. The best Namibian, Ronnie Adams, finds himself in fifth place with 31 points.Ingo Waldschmidt lies sixth with 25 points.Tommi Gous is ranked seventh, while Germany’s Gunnar Schuster is still in eighth place.Russel Foyle, the Australian riding under the Zambian flag, has reached his goal to be among the Top 10, and is slotted in on the ninth spot with 19 points.Rudi Brand from Swakopmund, who had not been racing competitively for about two years, is back and has 16 points and lies in tenth position. The situation in the 125cc class is almost as exciting.Ross Branch leads on 60 points.Robert Sturm, the young German, made it to two clear second places and has now 51 points.Behind him stands the best Namibian, Bjoern Bierbrauer with 43 points in third place, in front of his fellow countrymen Frank Klosta (35) and Alexander Howard (30).In the 50cc junior class the eternal battle between Harris Cloete, William Smith and Michael Barlow will continue. For the 50cc senior class, Martin Paterson from Botswana should not count on repeating his walk through from last Saturday as Mathew Nederlof will want to thwart this attempt.Claire Brendel also wants to stand on the podium and the same goes for Elandre van Eck in that class. The 65cc class is hot as Namibia’s Mark Sternagel does not only aim to win the AMU title, but also the Inter Series in his class. But this is exactly what Ian Dykes from Botswana and Jayden Ashwell from Zimbabwe want to avert. In the 85cc class, the favourite will be Barry van Blerk from Zambia, but he faces competition from Alexander Howard and Jaco Loots. The Clubmen’s class was dominated by the Angolan Jose Texeira last weekend. This time, “things will be different”, declares an optimistic Carsten Koelling from Germany.Namibia’s Jeffrey Welsh and Olaf Pack are going to fight for the third place on the rostrum.Despite the Quad class not having a national status, it is still popular among the spectators. This class will be competitive through the participation of the Kalahari Sands Hotel Quad Team South Africa, with the top riders Tony Cutino and Shawn Gunter. It will be exciting to see how the Namibian quad gladiators Warren Isaaks, the winner last Saturday, Wilber Ockhuisen, and Fanie Steenkamp will deal with the challengers from South Africa.A highlight on the day is that the International Open Namibian Champion for 2001, Boyd Karsmakers from the Netherlands, is getting married on the Gallina motocross track. The title
