Moses says he’s not with Swanu

VETERAN politician Moses Katjiuongua says he has not joined the Swanu party, although Swanu welcomed him last week after his recent resignation from the Congress of Democrats (CoD).

‘I have not joined Swanu,’ Katjiuongua told The Namibian yesterday after a short news story appeared in the Monday edition of the paper.Namibia’s oldest political party, the South West Africa National Union (Swanu), formed in September 1959, sent out a press statement last week with the title ‘Welcoming Comrade Katjiuongua’.In the statement, Swanu President Usutuaije Maamberua said: ‘Swanu welcomes the courageous step taken by Comrade Katjiuongua in leaving CoD and re-associating himself with Swanu of Namibia. He and many others who had never resigned from Swanu are all welcome. Swanu is the ultimate home of all those who have the interest of Namibians at heart.’ Despite this statement, Katjiuongua remains adamant that he has not returned to the Swanu fold.
