More rain predicted countrywide

THE first widespread rains of Namibia’s new rainy season fell over large parts of the country late last week and over the weekend.

With moisture in the atmosphere over Namibia expected to shift from the northwest and to be concentrated over the central and southeastern parts of the country towards the middle of this week, more rain can be expected over these areas of Namibia from today, weatherman Victor Kaurimuje of the Hosea Kutako International Airport weather office said yesterday. Rainfall has been reported over a wide section of Namibia – from Katima Mulilo in the northeast to Mariental in the south – since Friday, Kaurimuje indicated.Drops of rain were reported from Katima Mulilo and Grootfontein on Friday morning, he said.Over the 24 hours to Friday morning, 0,1 mm of rain had also been measured at Rundu, 0,2 mm at Otjiwarongo, 1 mm at Eros Airport in Windhoek, 0,2 mm at the Windhoek Met Office, 1,8 mm at Hosea Kutako International Airport, and 0,9 mm at Aranos.On Saturday morning, 0,2 mm of rainfall was measured at Okongo in the Ohangwena Region, 0,3 mm at Grootfontein, 0,1 mm at Eenhana, 0,4 mm at Otjiwarongo, 5,3 mm at Gobabis and 2,1 mm at Arandis in the Erongo Region.On Saturday and up to yesterday morning, 0,1 mm of rain was recorded at Rundu, 0,8 mm at Eenhana, 14 mm at Odibo near Oshikango, 0,4mm at Khorixas, 0,3 mm at Grootfontein, 4,2 mm at Otjiwarongo, 1,2 mm at Eros Airport, 5,4 mm at the Windhoek Met Office, 1,5 mm at Hosea Kutako International Airport, 0,2 mm at Gobabis, 0,9 mm at Mariental, 0,5 mm at Aranos and 10,4 mm in Windhoek’s Suiderhof area, the Meteorological Service reported.Rainfall has been reported over a wide section of Namibia – from Katima Mulilo in the northeast to Mariental in the south – since Friday, Kaurimuje indicated.Drops of rain were reported from Katima Mulilo and Grootfontein on Friday morning, he said.Over the 24 hours to Friday morning, 0,1 mm of rain had also been measured at Rundu, 0,2 mm at Otjiwarongo, 1 mm at Eros Airport in Windhoek, 0,2 mm at the Windhoek Met Office, 1,8 mm at Hosea Kutako International Airport, and 0,9 mm at Aranos.
