Misty Blues jam at the coast

LOCALS and visitors to the coast this coming Easter Weekend can ready themselves for some good local live music with famous South African Jazz-singer, Erika Lundi and Namibia’s very own Misty Blues Band.

In Swakopmund, the gigs will take place at Kucki’s Pub on Friday from 19:30; the Tug on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 15:00; and Woermann Haus Courtyard on Saturday-night from 19:30.On Sunday, they will be jamming in Walvis Bay at The Raft as from 19:00.Erika last swung by Swakopmund for the Tug’s 10th Anniversay in 2003 – with the Hollander Peter de Leeuw, Richard and Smitty – and she literally had the folks dancing on the tables. She is an experienced all-rounder, having worked with South African greats like the late Johnny Fourie, Hennie Bekker, Johnny Boshoff, and abroad. She is known for quietly singing a Carly Simon song (‘You’re so vain’) and ‘Tonight’ or ‘Maria’ from West Side Story and then bursting into Janis Joplin – sounding like she’s drunk all the Tequila! She is truly and artist not to be missed.Misty Blues members include Richard van der Ploeg (bass), Mihail Mihaylov (guitar), Johan ‘Smitty’ Smit (drums), Chris von Walter (vocals) and Jacus Krige.Be sure not to miss their performances and have an unforgettable Easter Weekend.
