THE Ministry of Education has taken time out to respond to a number of the complaints about the Education Sector, which have been SMSed to The Namibian:
* IS it fair for some pupils to be allowed to repeat while others are not? All pupils at Ondukuta Combined School in Tsandi Circuit should repeat with no age limit set, because that school had a problem of evil spirits last year. Even the Director and the Ministry of Education knows about it. Please Director do something, if the classrooms are not enough, erect tents so that all pupils can continue their studies. – Ottilie Teofe All Grade 10 learners who did not meet the minimum entry requirement in 2007 for admission to Grade 11 in 2008 should be given an opportunity to repeat regardless of their age. Contact the Regional Education Office in your region for help. * My problem is with the Ministry of Education. When do I qualify for study leave? What are the ministry’s requirements? I applied for study leave and my application was not approved, but I know someone who also applied for it and hers was approved, just because she is a daughter of highly ranked someone in the ministry. Can the ministry respond on this matter please! – Kauna G Every government employee qualifies for study leave if that particular person’s probation has been confirmed. This is done in terms of the Public Service staff rules.* I WANT to know the position of the Ministry of Education about the teachers who were admitted for the BETD in-service training programme, who dropped out. I know some in Ohangwena Circuit, Udjombala Cluster. I want to know in which category these teachers fall now, since they are still teaching? Any teacher without a Basic Education Teachers Diploma and are currently doing their in service training programme are paid according to Category T1B, they are considered as teachers with Grade 12 only.
