NAMIBIAN middleweight boxer Vikapita Meroro will have the chance to extend his professional career to 10 wins when he takes on Zimbabwe’s Edward Nhundu in an eight-rounder in Windhoek early next month.
The Namibian, who has only recorded one loss since entering the paid ranks, will have the advantage of fighting at home, but he is expected to be tested to the max by the visitor. Meroro suffered his only professional defeat against Ukrainian Stanislav Kashtanov in Ukraine last month. His trainer, Nestor Tobias, said Meroro should expect a tough fight because Nhundu has more experience in the ring.Tobias, a seasoned boxing trainer, has confidence in his boxer despite his relative inexperience compared to his opponent.Meroro is equally confident. He pledged that he would take out his opponent with a technical knockout in the seventh round.Nhundu will be in Windhoek a week before the fight to get used to the weather.Tobias said there would be eight professional fights ahead of the main event and four amateur bouts on the evening. The fight will be sanctioned by the Namibia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board (NPBWCB).The Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy has been assisted financially by Telecom Namibia, Pupkewitz and Ready Bite Meat Market to make the fight possible.Meroro suffered his only professional defeat against Ukrainian Stanislav Kashtanov in Ukraine last month. The fight will be sanctioned by the Namibia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board (NPBWCB).The Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy has been assisted financially by Telecom Namibia, Pupkewitz and Ready Bite Meat Market to make the fight possible.
