ACCRA – Men in suits are the worst drivers in Ghana, jumping red lights, speeding and committing two-thirds of traffic offences.

“It’s the big men in suits, driving posh cars who’re the worst traffic offenders, not taxi and trotro (minibus) drivers,” Chief Superintendent Victor Tandoh, head of Accra’s police motor traffic unit, told Reuters at the end of last week. Nearly 560 of 854 people convicted for traffic offences in the capital Accra between January and May were private car drivers, the vast majority of them men.”Either these men in coats and ties don’t have the patience, they’re ignorant of road-use regulations or they think their status in society allows them to be above the law,” Tandoh said.- Nampa-ReutersNearly 560 of 854 people convicted for traffic offences in the capital Accra between January and May were private car drivers, the vast majority of them men.”Either these men in coats and ties don’t have the patience, they’re ignorant of road-use regulations or they think their status in society allows them to be above the law,” Tandoh said.- Nampa-Reuters
