Man shot in row over money

A FIGHT over allegedly outstanding wages ended in the death of a security guard in Windhoek yesterday morning.

It is understood that the deceased, a former security guard at Superior Security Services CC, had been visiting the business in Uhland Street, Windhoek, since Monday to enquire about money which he said was owing to him.
Deputy Commissioner Sylvanus Nghishidimbwa, Khomas Regional Crime Co-ordinator, yesterday said it is suspected that a fight broke out between the deceased and the business owner. Witnesses said they heard a single gunshot.
It is understood that the man was shot in the suspect’s office, after which he stumbled out and collapsed on the balcony.
When The Namibian arrived at the scene at 10h40, the body was lying under a plastic cover.
A blood trail could be seen from the door to where the body was lying. Papers which appeared like personal documents lay next to the body.
Shocked employees were being questioned by the Police, who had cordoned off the scene.
Curious bystanders stood outside the premises, speculating about what had led to the fatal shooting.
By then, the suspect had already been taken to the Police station for questioning. He has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in court today, Nghishidimbwa said.
The name of the deceased could not be released by yesterday afternoon, as his next of kin still needed to be informed.
The suspect can only be named once he has appeared in court.
