Man in court for brutal slayings

LAURENTIUS Goliath (26) made a brief appearance in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court yesterday in connection with the brutal slaying of an elderly couple and an attack on another man.

His case was postponed to April 1 for further investigation. Goliath apparently went berserk and brutally killed 66-year-old Lukas Isaaks and Magrietha Tibot (52) at farm Meyer near Keetmanshoop last Wednesday after his girlfriend decided to end their relationship. It is alleged that he first beat them over their heads with an iron rod before stabbing them with a sharp object.Police believe the suspect killed Isaaks first and than turned on Tibot, whom, it is alleged, he took to a nearby riverbed where he raped her twice before stabbing her to death. He also attacked Rudolf Jossob who arrived at the farm after the killings.Jossob’s stomach was sliced open, exposing his intestines, while his arms were badly cut.He managed to walk for about six kilometres – holding his bowels in his hands – to a nearby farm for help. When he arrived at the farm, Jossob collapsed and was taken to the Keetmanshoop hospital. He knew Goliath and alerted the Police. However, Goliath evaded the Police for six days by moving between farms in the Keetmanshoop district before he was arrested at the farm Nu-Nuis on Monday morning.Goliath apparently went berserk and brutally killed 66-year-old Lukas Isaaks and Magrietha Tibot (52) at farm Meyer near Keetmanshoop last Wednesday after his girlfriend decided to end their relationship.
