Man dies in freak accident

A 55-year-old man died on Saturday after a car he was working on fell on him in Windhoek’s Academia suburb, the Police reported yesterday.

Warrant Officer Lazarus Immanuel said Frans Stephanus Theron died after a jack failed to hold the car and the vehicle fell on him. Immanuel said Theron’s family tried to pull him out, but it was too late. Theron died on the scene. * At Rundu, a three-years-old boy allegedly hacked another child with an axe when their parents left them alone in a house on Monday.* Goods valued at N$12 000 were stolen from at a house in Franc Street, Khomasdal, after suspects held the children who were in the house at gunpoint. The children were not injured.No arrest has been made yet.* Shivela Haraseb was held at gunpoint in Katutura at 02h00 on Wednesday and robbed off his car – a Nissan with the registration number N24105W – with a trailer and several other items, altogether worth N$275 000.The car was recovered on the same day but no arrest has been made. * In the Oshana Region, a 32-year-old Namibian woman was allegedly raped by an Angolan man at Onamuxwangal village in Okatope area. * Police at Ondangwa are investigating a rape case, after an eight-year-old girl was raped by three boys aged 9, 10 and 11.
