Man accused of stabbing girlfriend and their baby

TWO charges of attempted murder have been laid against a 31-year-old man from Omundundu village, after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend and their baby on Sunday.

The woman was stabbed several times and the baby had cuts to its fingers, the Police reported yesterday.The suspect is in custody.* Also in the North, Police are investigating the death of a six-month-old girl who died while sleeping next to her mother on Sunday night. The girl was identified as Monika Simeon.The incident happened at Iishanaputa village near Outapi.* A 57-year-old villager from the Ogongo constituency apparently committed suicide on Sunday by hanging herself in her hut.The deceased was identified as Lahja Petrus. The incident happened at Petrus’s home at Okapuku village.* Police in the Omusati Region have arrested a 38-year-old man accused of raping a 15-year-old girl at Okahwakambandjele village on Monday.* A car accident outside Lüderitz ended the life of a 34-year-old man on Sunday evening.Police report that Paulus Mwatungange succumbed to injuries sustained after two motor vehicles collided.* Police at Tsumkwe arrested a 28-year-old man at the town on Saturday for allegedly raping a 41-year-old woman there.* Police are investigating a break-in at the Grootfontein Street House shop on Sunday morning.The unknown suspects stole 20 jackets, 50 T-shirts, 30 pairs of trousers and two pairs of sneakers. No recovery or arrests have yet been made.* The decomposing body of a 28-year-old man, Joel Shabandura, was found in his shack at the Hakahana location of Omaruru on Friday. Police are investigating the cause of death.* A 22-year-old man, Meben !Goagoseb, was fatally stabbed in the head at Hoachanas on Saturday night.The incident happened at the Bafana Inn shebeen, and a 22-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after.
