WINDHOEK – Athletics Namibia (AN) has called up 15 athletes to form part of the team that will represent the country at the forthcoming Grand Prix slated for Gaborone, Botswana on 05 May.
The athletes are are: Stefan Louw (long jump), Agnes Samaria (800m), Hitjivirue Kaanjuka (100m,200m), Cecil Malgas (100m), Frans Hosea (1 500m), Salomo Tuaire (high jump),T. Herunga (200m,400m), Hilaria Johannes (3000m),Martha Shivolo (800m,1500m),Vakuna Rukoro (100m), Silba Tjingaete (400m), Kenneth Nyembo (100m,200m), Augusta Setle (high jump), Sedrick Bampton (team coach) and Erastus Shiyemba (team manager).Under 17 tournament on THE Namibia Football AssociationŽs Technical Department yesterday announced that an under 17 Youth Development tournament will be held at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Katutura this weekend.The competition serves as a continuation of the NFAŽs Technical DepartmentŽs efforts to put youth development structures in place.A media release issued yesterday states that the first 16 teams from the tournament will be taken up in the under 17 Youth Development League in the Khomas Region.The NFA has invited the following under 17 teams to compete at the tournament which will be held on both Saturday and Sunday (April 27 and 28).Tigers, Civics, Okahandja Park United, Ramblers, Collin Benjamin Soccer Academy, Mario nailenge Soccer Academy, Vision 2010 Soccer Academy, Kasu, A.Stars, Scorpion United, S Ball United, Dolam, City of Windhoek, Windhoek High School and Diamond United.All the teams consist of under 17 players.The NFA said all the coaches for the respective teams are invited to attend the draw for the competition which will be held at Soccer House today at 10h00.For more information, contact Isack Hamata on 081 128 4263 or Jakes Amaning on 081 240 2404.Oshakati karate win medals ONGWEDIVA – The Karate-Zen Oshakati team collected about 30 medals from the Namibia All Styles National Championships, which took place in Windhoek last weekend.Coach of the team, Sensei Freddie Mwiya said this to Nampa in an interview.”We could say we’ve got it!
