Wrestling
 NAMIBIAN wrestlers scooped three gold, five silver and four bronze medals at the South Africa Greco-Roman Championships held in Ermelo last weekend.
 The Namibia Wrestling Federation (NWF)’s president Dawie Augustyn said in a media statement yesterday that a team of vibrant wrestlers represented Namibia at the SA Greco-Roman Championships.

The Namibia Wrestling Federation (NWF)’s president Dawie Augustyn said in a media statement yesterday that a team of vibrant wrestlers represented Namibia at the SA Greco-Roman Championships. Wrestlers throughout South Africa and Namibia participated in the prestigious championships.
The competition was also very important for Angula Shikongo, Paavo Hihangwa and Sem Shilimela, who are being prepared for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Motocross
THE Africa Motocross Championships will be held in Namibia on June 27 and 28 at the Gallina Motocross Park.
Event organiser Bernd Kroemer said Namibia, represented by the Windhoek Motocross Club (WMCC), made an excellent impression on the African Motorcycle Union (AMU) when they staged the 12th annual Motocross Inter-Series.
Now Namibia has been awarded the rights to hold the 2009 AMU Motocross Championship of African nations.

Cycling
AN annual cycling event sponsored by the Hunter’s brand of Distell Namibia Limited will take place between Oshakati and Oshikuku on Saturday.
Organiser Michael Ikuambi said the Hunter’s brand sponsors the event to the tune of N$30 000. The first three winners will be awarded bicycles worth some N$12 000 each. The registration fee is N$30 per cyclist and is open until Friday.
The event is a 60km ‘return race’ taking place on the tarred road between Oshakati and Oshikuku.

Karate
A Namibian Karate-Zen team left the country for Cape Town, South Africa, yesterday to participate in an annual karate event tomorrow and Saturday.
Head coach of the Oshakati Karate-Zen Club, Freddie Mwiya, said Namibian team consists of 75 contestants.
Mwiya said his Karate-Zen club has 38 contestants in the team, while two are from Lüderitz and the rest from Windhoek. Members that belong to registered Karate-Zen clubs in Africa are anticipated to participate in the Cape Town karate championships.

Football
TEN football specialists recently identified Windhoek as a perfect location to hold friendly matches and training camps for countries participating in the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) 2010 World Cup scheduled for South Africa (SA).
The football specialists’ decision to visit Namibia was taken at the Soccerex exhibition, which took place last year in SA.
