NAMIBIA can soon expect improved service delivery from its various local authorities, following the launch of the Performance Management Development Project this week.
The project, which aims to ‘improve accessibility to local government by enhancing the effectiveness and efficiencies of all local authorities across Namibia’, has been initiated by the Association for Local Authorities in Namibia (ALAN) and the Namibia Association of Local Authority Officers.The two organisations last week signed an agreement with performance management company Vision Activ Namibia to begin implementing the project next year. According to the organisations, ‘transfer of skills across all local authorities is a high strategic imperative for this project through the Technical Partnership model.’In addition to improving accessibility, the project will also provide a platform to measure the quality of the service delivered by local authorities, and to improve the development and growth of individual staff members in this regard through a standard performance management system across all local authorities.’The overall project goal is to ensure that our people have access to all local authorities that are accountable, transparent and fully responsive to their needs,’ the two organisations say.
