Local artists celebrate love beyond colour

Namibians had the opportunity to showcase their talents at the event ‘Love Transcends Colour’.

Popular music café Vinyls hosted the event last Friday, featuring performances by various poets like Feroakea, Dope Bee, Lev, Silver, Jemimah and Zoë Kaundje, also known as Orchid.

Gun Jade performed during the musical intermission, with Kwadukwashe Bobo on the keyboard, and Bupe performed a contemporary dance.

Organiser Jemimah Ndebele says events like this, as well as open mic nights, are important because they create a platform for creatives of all walks of life to express themselves beyond all boundaries.

“We have found a way to explore the intersectionality of all art forms such as poetry, dance, music and paintwork. We aim to cultivate an experience that will be unforgettable to our attendees,” she says.

Each edition of these events has a different theme, and this one was about celebrating love beyond the boundaries of race and sexuality.

Ndebele plans to organise at least two more.

She says Vinyls remains objective in its political and social stances and that the owners provide a safe space for all.
