Leave The Media

THE media has been in the news since the beginning of this year, it has also been discussed in the NBC talk show and even in the parliament and the biggest question that needs to be answered for now is to who the media should be accountable to? Is it the public or government? Many well known politicians have criticised the media on the grounds that it has reported negatively about Namibia and Africa.

One wonders about accountability. I would rather request those who are uncomfortable with the media freedom in this country to come out and tell us their side of the story.Certain newspapers are still boycotted by the government.Currently GRN does not advertise in The Namibian newspaper because it is being seen as a threat by others. We, the people on the ground don’t know which negative reporting is attributed to media practitioners.Namibians deserve to be informed on good and bad aspects. The media is the brain of any democracy and therefore its freedom should not be questioned.Where are we going? What will be our destiny? Let us not transfer our problems to others..Advice to our leaders is please you are there to proudly serve and develop the land of the brave and not your personal interests.Zombi Elezo Katima MuliloI would rather request those who are uncomfortable with the media freedom in this country to come out and tell us their side of the story.Certain newspapers are still boycotted by the government.Currently GRN does not advertise in The Namibian newspaper because it is being seen as a threat by others. We, the people on the ground don’t know which negative reporting is attributed to media practitioners.Namibians deserve to be informed on good and bad aspects. The media is the brain of any democracy and therefore its freedom should not be questioned.Where are we going?
