INTERNATIONAL transport and logistics company Kühne and Nagel this month marks the 30th anniversary of its operations in Namibia.
The company first gained its foothold in the country when it acquired the United Shipping Company in 1975, operating under the name Kühne and Nagel (Pty) Ltd from January 1979.
Initially, the affiliate company focused mainly on air and sea freight, but has since expanded its Namibian footprint to include services such as customs clearance, cross-border road transport to and from Angola and Zambia, warehousing and project operations, and serving as the local representative for the German airline LTU.
With an optimistic outlook for the future, Managing Director Lars-Oliver Nees says: ‘I am confident that Kühne and Nagel, with its extensive range of services, will further expand its market position in Namibia. We see interesting potentials in the expansion of our existing business and in the field of integrated logistics solutions, for which there is an ever stronger demand,’ says
Kühne and Nagel’s international operations include a global network of 850 offices in more than 100 countries, with over 54 000 employees worldwide. Its Namibian operation has a staff complement of 50.
