Kudos For Honesty

WHILE visiting Grootfontein on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 11 2010, we went to the Grootfontein nursery to buy plants.

Friendly people assisted me in buying the plants. I paid for the plants in their office and left.Later the afternoon on our way back to Windhoek I opened my handbag and saw that my purse was gone. As usual, everything valuable was in the purse – ID document, driver’s license, bank cards, some money, etc. We immediately stopped the bank cards and as I was on my way to town to make arrangements for a new ID and driver’s license, my cellphone rang.It was a very good friend of mine of the Gobabis area. She joyfully announced that she was in Grootfontein at that moment and she had my purse in her hands!They were visiting friends in Grootfontein and on Thursday-morning, August 12, she also went to the nursery for plants, now knowing that we were there the previous afternoon. As she got out of her Gobabis bakkie one of the ladies who works at the nursery came to her and asked her if she perhaps knew me. They saw on my ID that I was born in Gobabis and they thought she might know me as she comes from Gobabis. She confirmed she knows me very well for many years and phoned me immediately.When the personnel came into their office on Thursday morning, they saw my purse on the counter. I must have left it there after I paid and the woman who attended to me, also did not see it lying there and discovered it only the next morning.Nothing was missing from my purse, as these honest women working at the nursery acted with integrity and returned the purse to its rightful owner. I rewarded them well and would like to thank Ms Sevelina Kalenka, Ms Magdalena Mengali and Ms Josefin Shoopala.Thank you once again you three – we will always remember your good deed!
