Knowledge Of Namibia

MY year 3 and 4 class are studying countries of the world and they are just beginning to realise what a big and wonderful world is out there! One boy has chosen Namibia and although we can’t find many books we have found The Namibian’s website and a couple of others and I have some pictures I have been sent by Namibians before.

I am very privileged to have a couple of great (by post) friends in Namibia and I met these friends about five years ago because your paper published a letter for me. I have learnt a lot and enjoy these friendships very much. Some of these kids rarely think further than their lunchbox or TV set and I hope to open their eyes and turn on their curiosity this year.To help this, we are starting a school stamp and postcard-collecting club and we are making collages and posters from brochures where we can get them.We are also researching on the net and in books and making slideshows with what we learn.I am wondering if you can help us to arouse curiosity in these children.Would someone in Namibia be able to send us some brochures or a postcard or an envelope posted in Namibia? I reckon the kids would get really excited about this.If a teacher wanted to swap kids’ letters, we would love to do a letter-writing lesson, too.If you can help us, our address is: Class 3-4, Bennett Casuarina St Primary School, PO Box 1046, Katherine 0850 Northern Territory, AustraliaI have learnt a lot and enjoy these friendships very much.
