Knives out for vulnerableTigers

CIVICS will have their sharpest knives out as they aim to slaughter Tigers, a side which has proven to be one of their most rigid opponents over the years, when they measure up at the Independence Stadium tonight.

Kick-off is at 19h00. Triple-league champions head coach Helmuth Scharnowski will seek to employ the best of his personnel to take advantage of a vulnerable Tigers side, which has been without a chief mentor for their opening four league matches, while it has been weakened by an exodus of four key players to Ramblers this season.Civics have had trouble in beating Tigers convincingly despite winning the league three times in a row.Tonight will be no different.Civics team manager Paul Stramis was the most stunned when his side lost 1-0 to Tigers at the Sam Nujoma Stadium last season, but this time, it will be a different venue.Civics will be the favourites on the night, but the answers have to come from their goal poachers, especially William Chilufya who will face an in-form and long-standing Tigers goalie, Fox Nambundunga.Tigers will be the underdogs as they were against Stars and their survival will be determined by a disciplined defence and a ruthless strike force. In another match on the same night, Black Africa has a date with SKW at the Sam Nujoma Stadium and once again SKW goalie Heribert Kapeng has to ensure that he stops the implacable Jerome Louis, who is the commanding goal-getter.Smithley Engelbrecht’s BA qualified for the FNB Cup final last weekend and that ought to give them enough ambition and authority to dismantle SKW.But they should be cautious of an unpredictable SKW side.Drama is set to unfold at Walvis Bay’s Kuisebmond Stadium in a derby involving the town’s only heavyweights, Eleven Arrows and Blue Waters.Arrows ought to have an upper hand considering the inexperienced Blue Waters side which is basically carried by Fisher Kalimba, Freddy Kauzuu and Kulu Hawala. On Saturday, premiership rookies Mighty Gunners and Fedics United will hope to spoil the party for each other at the Mokati Stadium in Otjiwarongo.Gunners will be kicking themselves if they throw away the three points at home after they held SKW to a 0-all draw in their last league match in Windhoek.Fedics got the better of Eleven Arrows in the south by recording a 2-1 victory last time, a first for them in the league and this send them into this match with confidence.African Stars will aim for a win against Oshakati City at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in their clash scheduled for 18h00.Stars have quality players and have no excuse for not living up to the expectations of their avid supporters.Triple-league champions head coach Helmuth Scharnowski will seek to employ the best of his personnel to take advantage of a vulnerable Tigers side, which has been without a chief mentor for their opening four league matches, while it has been weakened by an exodus of four key players to Ramblers this season.Civics have had trouble in beating Tigers convincingly despite winning the league three times in a row.Tonight will be no different.Civics team manager Paul Stramis was the most stunned when his side lost 1-0 to Tigers at the Sam Nujoma Stadium last season, but this time, it will be a different venue.Civics will be the favourites on the night, but the answers have to come from their goal poachers, especially William Chilufya who will face an in-form and long-standing Tigers goalie, Fox Nambundunga.Tigers will be the underdogs as they were against Stars and their survival will be determined by a disciplined defence and a ruthless strike force. On Saturday, premiership rookies Mighty Gunners and Fedics United will hope to spoil the party for each other at the Mokati Stadium in Otjiwarongo.Gunners will be kicking themselves if they throw away the three points at home after they held SKW to a 0-all draw in their last league match in Windhoek.Fedics got the better of Eleven Arrows in the south by recording a 2-1 victory last time, a first for them in the league and this send them into this match with confidence.African Stars will aim for a win against Oshakati City at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in their clash scheduled for 18h00.Stars have quality players and have no excuse for not living up to the expectations of their avid supporters.
