Knife murder, burglary over long weekend

A SUSPECT is on the run from the Police after he allegedly stabbed and killed a fellow patron in a bar in Windhoek on Thursday.

According to Chief Inspector Barry de Klerk, the incident took place at about 23h30 in Tsunami Bar in the Havana area in Katutura. A man was seen to be swinging around a knife in the bar, De Klerk said. He was then asked to leave the place and was escorted out.By the time he had left, it was discovered that he had allegedly already stabbed someone. This person, Nghilifa Efraim (20), died in the bar as a result of the stabbing which he sustained.Although the suspect is still at large, De Klerk yesterday afternoon said that the Police were hot on his heels as he is said to be a regular customer at Tsunami Bar.Also on Thursday, an unknown number of suspects broke into Furn Mart in Independence Avenue, De Klerk said.The suspects gained entry to the premises through its backyard. They then climbed onto the roof and started cutting holes in various parts of the roof until they reached the storeroom, the Police officer said.It is suspected that they then climbed into the storeroom and stole a number of laptops and DVD players.
