A NAMPOL officer received praise from citizens yesterday when he rescued a drunk man from the street by carrying him in his arms to the nearest Police station.
According to eyewitnesses, the officer was off duty and on his way home after his shift when he walked past a man lying passed out next to a bottle store in central Windhoek. The Police officer and a bystander checked the man’s vital signs before the officer decided to assist the man by removing him from the street and carrying him to the nearest Police station. Witnesses saw how the officer first tried to get the man, who was slowly waking up, to walk beside him by carefully placing one foot in front of the other. Eventually the officer realised it would be easier to carry the man in his arms. The Police officer remains unidentified.
