Kavango warned – Don’t rock the crocs

RUNDU – The Namibian Police Water Unit here has cautioned residents, especially those living along its banks, to be careful when visiting the Kavango River, as its level is rising.

The unit’s commander, Warrant Officer Pau Sitentu, said the rising water level meant people should be on alert, particularly for crocodiles. Sitentu said that there had been three crocodile attacks in the region in the past month alone.Sitentu said that the unit had learnt of only one recent drowning, though, that of an elderly woman at Sitopogo village in the western Kavango in November.Compared to last year, when many crocodile attacks and drownings happened in the region, Warrant Officer Sitentu said this year had been remarkably calm so far.- NampaSitentu said that there had been three crocodile attacks in the region in the past month alone.
