SUSPENDED National Unity Democratic Organisation Secretary General, Joseph Kauandenge, is due to appear before a disciplinary committee tomorrow, the party confirmed yesterday.
The disciplinary hearing will be conducted at Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region. Nudo Secretary for Legal Affairs, Sam Kauapirura, who heads the DC told The Namibian that Kauandenge was served with a charge sheet on Friday. He said the party decided to move the hearing to Otjiwarongo for logistical reasons.”The majority of DC members have to travel and it’s not everybody who can afford to travel to Windhoek, so Otjiwarongo came out as the best compromise,” the Nudo official added.Last week, Kauandenge gave the Nudo leadership an ultimatum of 48 hours to bring him before a DC, failure to which he threatened to either quit the party or challenge his suspension in court.None of the threats – which according to him, “could divide the party into two”, had materialised.Kauandenge could not be reached for comment yesterday. The youthful Kauandenge was suspended as Nudo’s third-in-command about two weeks ago on allegations of mismanaging the party’s finances and breaching its code of conduct. If found guilty, the severest possible punishment he could face is expulsion from the party.Nudo Secretary for Legal Affairs, Sam Kauapirura, who heads the DC told The Namibian that Kauandenge was served with a charge sheet on Friday. If found guilty, the severest possible punishment he could face is expulsion from the party.
