INVOLVING a range of cultural performances, musical entertainment, an agricultural livestock show and a small and medium enterprises exhibit, the first ever Katutura Central Expo will run from August 4 to 7.
Speaking at a media sponsorship launch for the expo in Windhoek on Monday, Katutura Central Constituency Councillor Ambrosius Kandjii said that the event would come at a cost of almost N$1,6 million. Kandjii also said that a number of corporate and Government sponsors had gotten onboard which have made the event possible.The expo will feature a boxing bout between Namibia and Zambia on Friday, and Trade and Industry Minister Hage Geingob will attend the event’s official opening. Prime Minister Nahas Angula will preside over the agricultural livestock show prize giving ceremony.Present at the event were representatives from a number of sponsors, including John Muguaviri who handed over a cheque for N$33 000 from the National Housing Enterprise. Also present was Douglas Rice who handed over a cheque for N$10 000 from the Pupkewitz Foundation and Ndjaura Tjozongoro from National Special Risks Insurance Association (Nasria), who gave N$15 000.Other sponsors of the event include First National Bank, MTC, AgriBank, Meatco, the Ministries of Youth, Agriculture, Trade and Industry, Safety and Security and the Windhoek Municipality.Kandjii said that although the expo was not aimed at generating a profit, any profit made would be directed to a trust which is already set up.
