Katjavivi hands over credentials

NAMIBIA’S new Ambassador to Germany, Dr Peter Katjavivi, handed over his letters of credence to German Federal President Horst Koehler in the Palace of Bellevue in Berlin on Wednesday.

Katjavivi conveyed best wishes to President Koehler from Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba and renewed an invitation by President Pohamba during his state visit to Germany in December 2005 to pay a reciprocal visit to Namibia at his convenience. He assured the German President he would further strengthen and intensify the already good relations between Germany and Namibia.During his stay in Germany, Ambassador Katjavivi wishes to focus on development of city partnerships and their extension to partnerships between Germany’s federal states and Namibia’s political regions.Another areas of co-operation is the land reform process.He also wishes to contribute to the discussion about the colonial war in Namibia between 1904 and 1907, to heal the wounds of the past.He assured the German President he would further strengthen and intensify the already good relations between Germany and Namibia.During his stay in Germany, Ambassador Katjavivi wishes to focus on development of city partnerships and their extension to partnerships between Germany’s federal states and Namibia’s political regions.Another areas of co-operation is the land reform process.He also wishes to contribute to the discussion about the colonial war in Namibia between 1904 and 1907, to heal the wounds of the past.
