THE Tsumeb Karate Zen Club on Saturday hosted a promotional and competitive training session for karateka preparing for upcoming karate competitions.
About 80 karateka from as far as Katima Mulilo and Windhoek attended the event, ranging in age from four years to veterans aged 50 and over.Some of Namibia’s best karateka, for example Shihan Gert Husselman from Windhoek, Sensei Freddie Mwiya and Sempai Yotham Simasiku from Oshakati, and Sempai Assy Mutelo of Katima Mulilo demonstrated their skills and assisted with training.A Karate Zen team was chosen at the event for the national trials, organised by the Namibia Karate Union, to be held in Windhoek on April 10, from which a Namibian national karate team will be chosen.Three karateka from the Tsumeb Karate Zen Club were chosen for the Karate Zen team to compete at the national trials in Windhoek. They are Ndeshi Shatona, Asheequ Emamdien and Rebecca Hamukonda.
