ALL incumbent Karasburg town councillors were defeated in the Swapo Party primary held there on Tuesday.
They are Mathew Mumbala (mayor), Josephine Kapiye, Aloysius Hamuyela and Julius Kalopa (management committee chairman). Elected as party candidates were Dennis Coetzee, acting Bondelswarts Chief Josef Christian, Cornelia Jacobs, Rosaline De Jong, Jerome van der Ross, Abraham Andreas and Gerhard Nantes. Coetzee garnered 33 votes, followed by Christiaan with the second highest votes of 27, while Jacobs and De Jong scored 19 and 18 votes respectively. Ross, Andreas and Nantes all scored 17 votes, and the incumbents only managed to garner six to eight votes. luqman@namibian.com.na
