THE infighting within the Swapo camp in the Karas Region is a product of power hungriness and self-enrichment concerns.
This senseless political fight has one main objective, which is to destroy remnants of democratic culture and tolerance. On the face value of what is happening we are led to believe that the fight is between the governor and the regional council’s CEO.This mistaken impression will plunge us into a situation where we will blame the two persons for destroying the grass on which we all depend for our survival. To the contrary the intra-community relations are torpedoed and poisoned by powers-that-be to subject those whom they consider not loyal enough to conditions of emotional torture and marginalisation. It pains us to witness how some of our people wittingly or unwittingly enter into marriages of convenience with the present-day powers-that-be and hangers-on to make life difficult for their own people. What happened to our long upheld consanguine relationship, which helped us to sustain our own way of addressing misunderstandings, both perceived and real.We are shocked to learn about the pending visit by the highest political handler, ostensibly to discipline the Governor for all sorts of wrongdoings. Those who religiously believe in the practice of arm-twisting and blackmail would certainly disagree, but a better option would be to consider requesting the mediation skills of Dr Zephania Kameeta for a speedy intervention to achieve tranquillity between/amongst our people. For those of us who are suffering from acute memory loss, the recently produced document on the Karas poverty profile deserves our undivided attention.Steve Swartbooi Via e-mailOn the face value of what is happening we are led to believe that the fight is between the governor and the regional council’s CEO.This mistaken impression will plunge us into a situation where we will blame the two persons for destroying the grass on which we all depend for our survival. For those of us who are suffering from acute memory loss, the recently produced document on the Karas poverty profile deserves our undivided attention.Steve Swartbooi Via e-mail
