John Muinjo sends Tim Isaacs to World Cup draw

NAMIBIA Football Association (NFA) president John Muinjo has delegated Brave Warriors team manager Tim Isaacs to represent the country at the preliminary draw for the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

This will be the second time that Isaacs attends a World Cup draw, after having witnessed first-hand the Fifa World Cup draw in 2007 in Durban, South Africa. Isaacs subsequently also served as a member of the 40 000-strong volunteer corps during the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa. According to Muinjo, sending Isaacs to Brazil was part of his and his executive’s efforts ‘to empower as many as possible football administrators’ and to expose them to best practices in terms of how events of that nature are organised. ‘The occasion will also afford Isaacs an opportunity to network and exchange notes with other football executives,’ Muinjo said. The preliminary draw in Brazil, host of the 2014 Fifa World Cup, is part of a series of activities scheduled to take place between Friday and Saturday. All 208 member associations have been invited by Fifa to attend the draw.Apart from attending the draw, Isaacs will also attend the team seminar for the preliminary competition on Friday. Subsequent to the seminar will be the Fifa banquet which will take place at the Forte de Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro. On Saturday, the preliminary draw for the Brazil 2014 Fifa World Cup will be presided over by Fifa president Joseph ‘Sepp’ Blatter. ‘The onus is on me to go and absorb as much as possible information, intelligence and to engage my counterparts from other associations for the betterment of Namibian football,’ said Isaacs, who leaves for Rio today and returns on Monday.’I give my assurance that I will be a true ambassador for the NFA in particular and the Land of the Brave in general.’
