New Independent Patriots for Change parliamentary chief whip Rodrick Likando says this change is “standard procedure”.
Likando was appointed as the party’s new chief whip on Thursday.
He replaces Rodney Cloete, who has held the position since last year.
Cloete remains the party’s shadow minister of international relations and trade.
“It is just a normal change. There is nothing in it. It’s a change of guard,” Likando says.
The party gained 20 seats in the National Assembly after the 2024 presidential and National Assembly elections.
Panduleni Itula, who campaigned as independent presidential candidate, founded the party in 2020.
