I AM referring to readers letters that appeared in The Namibian and New Era, criticising the bill that suggests that our founding president Dr Sam Nujoma be titled Father of the Namibian Nation.
I am doubtful about the position of some of our young politicians like the so-called Kaseven. Kaseven is really lost, empty-minded and immature. If I was he, I would not waste my time writing to the newspapers telling them that I have a grandmother who is so old …what role did the grandmother play in the liberation of this country? One other thing is that there is a misunderstanding among our young “democrats” as to what is implied by the bill, which is why some ended up saying that the nation existed long before Nujoma engaged in politics.Fellows, you are lying to yourselves and you are misleading the peacekeepers and supporters of nation-building like me.I do not want to leave you in a sea of misunderstanding in which you may drown if you are not pulled out quickly. What is implied by the bill is that Nujoma has liberated this country and brought peace, stability and democracy to the country, which declared the country as a Republic and this is what counts. What must be understood by people like Kaseven is that Nujoma is and will remain the father of the Namibian nation with or without his consent and with or without the bill in force and if you do not want this, go and look for a place elsewhere.Remember that it is democracy that enables you to open your mouth wide and say whatever you feel like saying.Remember also that what you are saying now was a taboo in the colonial era.Beware then that you are insulting a leader.Wake up and smell the truth. You are lost and you are fooling your fellow immature politicians.Get out of the pit of negativism, I want you to be real.I salute Dr Sam Nujoma and wish him a longer life full of enthusiasm.I also pray the Lord open Kaseven’s eyes, ears and imagination because currently he is deaf and blind.Long live the Father of our nation!
