Icy weather sets in

EXTREMELY cold conditions are expected to hit Windhoekers this morning with frost expected on the mountains, the Weather Bureau forecast yesterday.

Weatherman Victor Kaurimuje said not only the Khomas Region would feel the pinch but the cold weather is also expected to hit the Karas, Hardap and Omaheke Regions. “Frost is expected in those areas,” Kaurimuje told The Namibian yesterday.He warned small-stock farmers to take the necessary precautions.He said the coldest weather would be felt in the Karas and Hardap Regions.Kaurimuje said the cold was caused by polar air from the South Pole that was affected by the Atlantic Ocean high.The situation, he said, was expected to normalise from Wednesday onwards.Last month, a cold front, combined with rain, resulted in farmers in the South losing livestock.Kaurimuje said Namibia was still in the thick of the winter season, which lasts from April to August.”Frost is expected in those areas,” Kaurimuje told The Namibian yesterday.He warned small-stock farmers to take the necessary precautions.He said the coldest weather would be felt in the Karas and Hardap Regions.Kaurimuje said the cold was caused by polar air from the South Pole that was affected by the Atlantic Ocean high.The situation, he said, was expected to normalise from Wednesday onwards.Last month, a cold front, combined with rain, resulted in farmers in the South losing livestock.Kaurimuje said Namibia was still in the thick of the winter season, which lasts from April to August.
