I was robbed of my moment – award winner after loser gatecrashes stage

Denzel Leroy //Naobeb, also known as NSK, took to the stage expressing his disappointment in the judges’ decision.

Donald Kariseb describes his experience at the Simply You Magazine Lifestyle and Fashion Awards (Symlafa) on Saturday as “being robbed of his moment”.

Kariseb won the Simply You Magazine Male Radio Presenter of the Year award.

However, Denzel Leroy //Naobeb, also known as NSK, soon after this was announced took to the stage expressing his disappointment in the judges’ decision.

“Deep down you know you are not better than me, and deep down in your heart you look up to me, bro . . . so, how is it possible that you are telling me I am losing an award to him?” NSK asked on stage, adding that Kariseb did not deserve to win the award.

Both personalities were nominees in the male radio presenter of the year category.

“This was a moment meant for me, not because of me, but because people voted for me. I think those people would have wanted to hear from me personally.

“So that is a moment I was robbed of, regardless of how much I would like to justify what NSK said and did,” he says.

Kariseb encourages his supporters not to view NSK as a villain.

“I’m sure he must have had his reasons. I think he may have been inebriated, and sometimes people act out of character when going through things.

“Awards are . . . a gamble. It’s not going to be all about who thinks he is the best, or who thinks he is not the best,” he says.

Speaking to unWrap.online yesterday, Simply You Magazine Awards organiser Helena Shigwedha said the organisation is disappointed with NSK’s behaviour.

“We all thought he would apologise to Donald respectfully,” she said.

She said NSK has not issued an apology.

“The question here is why does Donald not deserve it? Anyone in that category and outside the category are equally deserving.

Winners are based on votes. This criterion has been clear for seven years now, and NSK has been a recipient of Symlafa in the past,” Ngaifiwa said.

With MTC as main sponsor Symlafa celebrates Namibian creativity in arts and fashion.
