Hunt for premiership boss in full swing

THE hunt for the first ever chief executive officer of the Namibia Premier League (NPL) is in full swing, after the position was widely advertised in the local media on Tuesday.

So far, no applications have been handed in, but according to NPL chief administrator Tovey //Hoebeb, there has been a few queries on the issue.The position will be the first ever for the domestic premiership organisation as most of the operational duties are currently done by a handful of office administrators.//Hoebeb said several new positions will be created as soon as the new man takes over and these include people dealing with the finances, marketing and advertising of the league. The NPL will officially elect its rightful chairman at an extra-ordinary Annual General Meeting (AGM) in August. At the moment, Eleven Arrows boss, Johnny Doeseb is serving as the interim chairman and took over about two months ago after Hendrik Dawids resigned. For the CEO, the league is looking for a person with a tertiary qualification in business administration or business development.The person should also have an understanding of the football environment in Namibia, while a keen interest in the game and able to work in a challenging environment, are other requirements.The successful candidate will report to the chairman and the management committee of the NPL. The closing date is July 31.At the moment, the NPL has a management committee which consists of Mabos Vries, Boni Paulino, Escher Luanda and Jochen Traut. It is chaired by Doeseb.Their responsibilities are to advise and serve the league on the marketing, technical, financial and legal aspects.There are 12 members who serve on the Board of Governors who hail from the respective teams that form the premiership.
