House Guru Gang blesses December with ‘Father Bless Me’

HOUSE music fans have another reason to celebrate #KeDezemba thanks to a fresh release – House Guru Gang’s new album ‘Father Bless Us’.

Consisting of Nasho Beats, DJ Chahelman and Jowdy, the trio upped their game this time around, proving once again that Namibians can conquer the house music industry.

The first track titled ‘Gurus’ is an absolute jam. Featuring 4×4 Too Much Power, the song is definitely one to get down to and it’s hard to ignore the constant “everybody get up!” chants.

Just when you think it’s good, the rhythm switches on the next track ‘Guru Team’. Melodic with the guitar, the vocals blend in perfectly and you may accidentally mistake it for a South African hit.

There’s no denying that the songs on the album are well-mastered. “We are the money team,” they sing and you better get ready to believe them.

‘Armor’ incorporates gospel into their house with the assistance of Graciano. Singing in Portuguese, it’s another jam that deserves airplay. And just when you think you’ve had enough, ‘Stand By You’ featuring Tashely hits you and you’re dancing like it’s the end of the world again. A definite favourite, it incorporates Zulu with Namibian beats and there’s no denying that it works. Don’t be surprised if you have this one on repeat – it’s just that good.

Going for a more traditional sound that blends in kwaito, ‘Blessings’ tells the tale of how these three men are living life and having a good time. It may seem like a gospel album, but it’s really not – which may be surprising. But also, not really. The clue? The slightly sexual lyrics which you pick up. Nonetheless, it’s still a good song, although it doesn’t have quite as much appeal as the others.

Artists you can expect on this offering include Topsy Kim and Likoro who have their own vocal abilities to bring to the album. If you’re not a house fan, you may just be converted. But if you are, as albums go, some songs are better than others and that’s the truth.

December just got more lit.
