Hitman’s world title fight to come to Namibia

NAMIBIA’S WBA lightweight champion, Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses, is bringing the championship title fight to Namibia in June, it was announced yesterday.

The fight will be organised by Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias, local promoter for ‘The Hitman’, international promoter Don King and the Namibian Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board.
The Namibian Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board (NPBWCB) was brought about to regulate boxing and wrestling in Namibia.
The Board has managed to protect the interest of boxers, trainers, managers and promoters by eliminating undesirable practices in the sport.
F&H Promotions yesterday said that the NPBWCB was mandated by the Ministry of Sport in February to run a fundraising campaign in pursuit of hosting Hitman’s title defence in Namibia.
This was in response to a joint request by the NPBWCB and the Nestor Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy for the Ministry’s assistance in what is viewed to be a national project, it said.
The Ministry, the NPBWCB and the promoter joined hands and formed a fundraising committee to ensure the smooth running of the preparations leading up to the day of the fight.
The committee is led by the chairman of the NPBWCB, Kelly Nghixulifwa, assisted by Ellison Hijarunguru, deputy chairman of the board, and Nestor Tobias of the Boxing and Fitness Academy.
Public relations company F&H Promotions was selected to help the NPBWCB to organise, market and run the fundraising campaign, which includes a gala dinner.
The NPBWCB, together with the Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy, invites all boxing fans in Namibia and corporate sponsors to support this project.
Interested parties can contact the NPBWCB or F&H Promotions for further information. Alternatively, visit www.nambox.org or www.kickstartnam.com .
