Helen Zille comes to Windhoek to learn

OUTSPOKEN Western Cape Premier and Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Helen Zille will be in Windhoek next week.

Her spokesperson, Zak Mbhele, yesterday said Zille will be ‘on a one-day fact-finding trip’. She will be accompanied by a delegation including the provincial minister of finance, tourism and economic development, Alan Winde.The purpose of the visit is to learn about an urban zoning regulations model currently being implemented in the Khomas Region – aimed at reducing the liquor outlets in residential areas, Mbhele said. ‘That is also the direction which the Western Cape wants to take in order to reduce alcohol-related challenges.’She will arrive in Windhoek next Tuesday morning and will leave again the following morning.Upon enquiry, Khomas Governor Samuel Nuuyoma yesterday said Zille would call on him.The South African High Commission will host a cocktail reception in Zille’s honour on the evening of her visit, preceded by a press briefing.
