Have A Backbone

Have A Backbone

WITH the change to winter time, a few thoughts come to mind. I can guarantee that no member of the government can remember the reasons why the time change came in way back in the nineties (1990s).

I call upon every public servant who has access to a minister or deputy minister to go to them and ask why the government changes the clocks every winter, and to send an SMS to The Namibian with the answer they get. I guarantee an amusing read [about] the answers. If none of them are correct, I will SMS the correct answer.Nobody agrees with it, so why do we do it? Nobody can force you to change your clock. Simply change your business opening hours. In fact, many companies and even municipalities are already doing it. So, Namibians, show a little backbone. There are few enough things we can do to change the things government enforces upon us. This is one easy thing to do and they cannot do anything about it.Furthermore, if the banks won’t change their opening times, think how convenient that would be for you if you stuck to summer time. In effect they will be staying open till 4.30pm. So no more having the door shut in your face at 3.25 pm. Chris King, Swakopmund
