Hardap, Karas celebrate better exam outcome

THE southern regions have recorded improvements in their 2008 Grade 12 results and have reclaimed their positions among the top five regions on the national ranking list.

Hardap is leading the pack while Karas secured a fourth position. Hardap Regional Education Deputy Director Frans Cloete yesterday attributed this to hard work on the part of teachers and pupils alike. Cloete added that motivational talks the region’s education director had with principals, teachers and pupils also contributed to the good Grade 12 results. In 2007, the region was fourth on the national ranking list. A delighted Celi Mostert, Karas Regional Education Deputy Director, yesterday said the regional education office is ‘proud and ecstatic about the phenomenal improvement’. In 2007 the region was placed at the bottom of the national ranking list in 11th position. Mostert ascribed the good performance to the spring school the Grade 12 pupils attended last year. ‘The spring school was a resounding success,’ she said. She thanked the teachers, parents and pupils for their contributions towards improving the exam results. She also congratulate the Hardap Region on topping the national ranking list. Both regions fared badly in the 2008 Grade 10 results. Hardap was in 10th position and Karas in 11th. luqman@namibian.com.na
