The Bank Windhoek Central Zone Championships scheduled for this weekend will open the 2009 gymnastics season for the artistic gymnasts of the Windhoek region.
The championships will be hosted by Excelsior Gymnastics Club and will take place in Hall B at the Windhoek Show Grounds. Bank Windhoek is the main sponsor of this gymnastics event. With the sponsorship of N$28 000, Bank Windhoek reconfirmed their commitment towards the development of sport for the youth. A total of 141 gymnasts, aged 6 – 17 years from Level 1 to Senior Olympic of Excelsior Gymnastics Club, SKW Academy, Crete Gymnastics Club and Swakopmund Gymnastics Club will be in action. The MAG (Mens Artistic Gymnastics) competition will start today at 14h00 with the level 1 gymnasts, followed by the level 2-4 at 16h10 and the level 5-9 at 18h20. Prize-giving will be at 20h30. On Saturday, the WAG (Women’s Artistic Gymnastics) competition starts at 09h00 with the level 2 gymnasts, level 1 will start at 10h40 and level 3 and 6 (set routines) will start at 12h20. Level 4 and 5 (set routines) start off the afternoon session at 14h40 with the level 5 (voluntary) – Senior Olympic at 16h40. Prize-giving will be at 18h30. Entry fee for adults N$5-00 and free for scholars/children. Spectators are welcome to watch as gymnastics of a high standard in all levels is expected.
