Gymnastics federation to send rhythmic team to SA

Games A team of 33 rhythmic gymnasts representing the Namibian Gymnastics Federation NGF will travel to South Africa this week to participate in the South African Games from September 20 – 26 in Cape Town.

The team comprises of 26 gymnasts from SKW Gymnastics Academy in Windhoek, one from Ocean View Gymnastics Club in Swakopmund and five from Walvis Bay Gymnastics Club. One gymnast is from the Tsumeb Gymnastics Club.They will be accompanied by six officials, including one team manager, judges and coaches.The SA Games host the National South African Championships for the individual competition levels 4 – 8 as well as groups.The South African Gymnastics Federation arranged a qualifying competition for the South African top rhythmic gymnasts ahead of the African Championships that will take place in November this year at the same venue.Organisers said that is one of the reasons why the SKW Gymnastics Academy decided to send the two top juniors in Namibia, Nicole Bierbach und Mirja Stoldt, to that competition.They will have the opportunity to compete against some of the best rhythmic gymnasts in Africa, among them the current African champion in the junior Olympic category, Sibongile Njekula (SA).One gymnast is from the Tsumeb Gymnastics Club.They will be accompanied by six officials, including one team manager, judges and coaches.The SA Games host the National South African Championships for the individual competition levels 4 – 8 as well as groups.The South African Gymnastics Federation arranged a qualifying competition for the South African top rhythmic gymnasts ahead of the African Championships that will take place in November this year at the same venue.Organisers said that is one of the reasons why the SKW Gymnastics Academy decided to send the two top juniors in Namibia, Nicole Bierbach und Mirja Stoldt, to that competition.They will have the opportunity to compete against some of the best rhythmic gymnasts in Africa, among them the current African champion in the junior Olympic category, Sibongile Njekula (SA).
