Group leaders shine in Top Score tourney

LAST Friday’s matches in the popular Top Score-7-A-Side tournament once again saw outstanding performances, as none of the single group leaders lost a match, resulting in all leaders remaining on top.

The only close call on Friday was a highly contested 1-all draw for Group C leader G4S against NamWater. NamWater were out to prove their ability from the onset and were poised to take over as group leaders, but G4S were determined not to relinquish their prime position and fought hard to achieve the draw. Most teams seem to have found their stride, as the high scores seen during the first few weeks are now something of the past. Last Friday produced more respectable scores as a result of valuable experience gained during the first few rounds of the tournament. There were no trashings such as 8-0 or above recorded, with the most goals scored being four.Pennypinchers A however scored four goals against Windhoek Consulting Engineers, while the match between Perfect Building and NBC Tubeoflex also produced more than three goals. Matches will continue this Friday at the Ramblers sports grounds in Pionierspark as teams fight to secure a berth in the knockout stages of the tournament.
