CIVIL servants should pull up their socks, Karas Governor Dawid Boois said at the Cassinga Day commemoration at Keetmanshoop on Monday.
Boois said civil servants should be employed on a contract basis to ensure efficient service delivery. ‘Contract employment must not only apply to politicians, but to civil servants too,’ he said at the event, which was poorly attended. Boois blamed civil servants for slow service delivery, saying that on many occasions they fail to implement instructions from politicians. ‘I do admit there are bottlenecks in the Government system, but lack of commitment on the part of civil servants also created these bottlenecks,’ he said. ‘The community says the politicians are failing us, when civil servants failed to implement our instructions,’ he claimed. Boois also criticised local councillors who did not attend the Cassinga commemoration. luqman@namibian.com.na
