Goldie is in a happy place

Big Brother Stargame has officially been left colourless, romanceless and with considerably less imposing eyelashes in the wake of the shocking, yet not entirely unexpected, exit of Goldie, the Nigerian songstress.

An award-winning musician, Goldie was a far cry from the attention-seeking diva we expect artists to be. She proved to be compassionate, emotional and has a nurturing spirit, which endeared her to fellow housemates as their mother figure. Goldie showed that anyone lucky enough to have ‘The Golden One’ fall for them is in for royal treatment, as was the case with her endless pampering of Prezzo. She sounded cheerful when The Namibian caught up with her yesterday, a stark contrast to her teary eyed exit from the reality show. After an emotional exit on Sunday, how do you feel today?Well, it has been 48 hours since I left the house and I have had had time to reflect. I can say that I am in a happy place. What have you learned about yourself in the house? That I’m a strong person. I am determined, am a hard worker and I love to love. I love people and I just love making people happy. What was your highlight in the house? There were lots of experiences that I found interesting, especially the tasks. I learned how to carve, learned about photography. I also learned a lot about cooking. Although I already love cooking, there were new aspects that were new to me in the house. I got to cook with different ingredients and the environment in which I was cooking was also different. The experience in the house made me grow up, plus I have a four pack now because of the exercises. You have a quirky and funky dress style. What is the inspiration for your outfits?Fairy tales. Yes, my style is a futuristic, 18th century lady of the manor type. I love lace and everything I wear is inspired by that era, when ladies wore corsets and loved playing around with make-up.Your lashes have a life of their own and you take great pride in them. What brings that on?My lashes have been a part of me for a long time and ever since I started my music career in Nigeria I was always known as ‘Goldie with the lashes’. I love them so much as they frame my face beautifully. Every woman should wear lashes even if just once in a while as they make you feel sexy and make you look even more beautiful. What was your lowest point in the house?Anytime there was a fight. Because we were in a confined environment people fought a lot. The disqualifications and evictions also hurt, the whole issue of DKB and Maneta. Barbz leaving was very sad as well. I was in tears when Barbz came to visit me. She brought me flowers which was very sweet. You struck up a friendship with Junia from Namibia, what was the connection?I saw Junia as an open person, someone who always spoke her mind, just like me. She also wore her heart on her sleeve and she loved Nigerian music. After she left I would always think of her when I heard ‘Oleku’.What about Lady May? You are similar in the sense that you both have a stage persona which differs from your persona when you are at home. Do you think that similarity contributed to the two of you not ‘clicking’? Not really. In the beginning I tried very hard to reach out to Lady May but it never worked. But before I left I told her we should try to make things work and that’s when she explained to me the reason why she is distant is because she does not want to get emotionally attached to anyone because she would get hurt when the person leaves. So I understood. It made me understand her better and see her as an honest person. I’m looking forward to when she comes out of the house.Tell us about Prezzo. What drew you to him? What I look for in every individual is neatness, calmness, intelligence and a kind heart. I saw all these things in him. What did he (Prezzo) tell you about his marriage?Uhm…Well I asked him about that and everybody heard what he said. He told me they have been separated for about two years. I have tried to urge him to reconcile with his wife.Just after your eviction, Prezzo told Big Brother that he thought you were only playing him, were you or was it true love?Love is not word I use very lightly. I came to care for Prezzo a lot. I would rather not use the word love. What can we now expect from Goldie and will we see you any time soon in Namibia? You can expect a Namibian/Nigerian collaboration. Lady May and I talked about working together.
