THE case in which a Gobabis woman is challenging the sale of her house for N$15 000 to settle her debt will only be heard on July 17.
Norman Tjombe, Director of the Legal Assistance Centre, said they were still awaiting a reply from the lawyers of suspended Messenger of the Court Gideon Retief Bosman as well as Standard Bank Namibia.Bosman allegedly sold the house to his son and assistant, also named Gideon Retief Bosman. The house, allegedly worth N$280 000, belonged to Aletta /Gôagoses, a former Police officer who had to go on early retirement for health reasons. It was sold off to cover a bank debt that started with a wrangle over N$1 000 which she owed Standard Bank. Now she wants the court to order an investigation by the Ministry of Justice and the Anti-Corruption Commission into ‘all matters handled by the father-and-son Messenger of Court partnership’ at Gobabis.Rule 39 of the Magistrate’s Court Rules states that ‘no messenger or person acting on their behalf shall purchase any property offered for sale for himself or for any other person’./Gôagoses claims that this rule was violated.christof@namibian.com.na
