THE SKW Old Boys competed in the biggest Oldies Soccer Tournament in Germany in May this year and at the same time made contact with some of the big clubs in that country to exchange players and coaches.
This was revealed in a media statement by the club yesterday. It said the first group of scouts will visit the Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) in November this year to have a look at their players and their performances in the Namibian Premier League (NPL).The club said this will avoid the high costs of bringing players to Germany for trials, adding that it is also easier for the players to show off their potential on home soil.”A highly ranked players’ agent visited Namibia late last year and told the SKW management if they keep up their visions and fine work, it will be the future giants in Namibian football,” the club said.It further said that SKW’s vision is to become a formidable force in the NPL and to realise its goal of playing in the African CAF competition in the foreseeable future.SKW recently announced that it will start its own Youth Football Academy next year. They will have teams from under-8 up to the premier league side, and scouting of young players will start early next year.”SKW’s aim is to support clubs like Civics, Swakopmund FC, Otjiwarongo Football Club and the Namibian Football Association (NFA), in showing commitment to youth football in Namibia with the hope that other clubs will follow soon,” it said. The current NPL squad looks promising and has been training for three weeks already. The club said the new signings ahead of the new season will be announced soon.It said the first group of scouts will visit the Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) in November this year to have a look at their players and their performances in the Namibian Premier League (NPL).The club said this will avoid the high costs of bringing players to Germany for trials, adding that it is also easier for the players to show off their potential on home soil.”A highly ranked players’ agent visited Namibia late last year and told the SKW management if they keep up their visions and fine work, it will be the future giants in Namibian football,” the club said.It further said that SKW’s vision is to become a formidable force in the NPL and to realise its goal of playing in the African CAF competition in the foreseeable future.SKW recently announced that it will start its own Youth Football Academy next year. The club said the new signings ahead of the new season will be announced soon.
