PLEASE allow me to express my feeling, appreciation and love for Namibian music.
It is amazing how the music industry is growing in this country. The Namibian people are falling in love with local music and are enjoying listening to the sounds of their local artists.Recently the 2006 Sanlam/NBC artist of the year, Lazarus ‘Karandu’ Shiimi, better known as Gazza, launched his new album ‘467 GMP Till I die’.The show was supposed to take place at the Windhoek showgrounds and was moved at the last minute, causing a bit of confusion, and posing questions as to whether people would go to Unam, taking into consideration the distance and costs involved. The reasons for venue change are quite complicated and one tends to think if someone is behind it in an attempt to try to sabotage the boy who brought us hit songs such as ‘Koko’, ‘Kick It’ and now ‘Mokasi’.The show was postponed for the first time and there was a possibility of it getting postponed for the second time, but because of the love Gazza has for his audience he decided a final venue change would do.So thanks to Dandani and his entertainment label, that show was arranged and organised in a way that no one would think it had been moved to Unam at the last minute.Dandani and GMP put up a good show that will prove a point to the doubtful.Keep up the good work guys, and let us see many more good positive links between the two of you and other local artists. There was only one incident of fighting in the crowd and things were normalised in no time, meaning the security was very good.Armas Shivute Armas Via e-mail Wrong Math On Electricity Tariff IN your lead article in your edition of April 4 2007, ‘Electricity up 13,2%’, your reporter seems to simply sum up the present 13,2% hike and the 10,2% hike of last year to conclude that therefore the overall percentage hike is 23,4%! This is clearly wrong! With the price that existed before the 10,2% hike taken as the base, a quick calculation – without a calculator – will show you that the overall percentage hike after this intended 13,2% further increase is 24.75%.I am sure you will not need a professor of mathematics to sort this one out for you.Have a mathematical day, won’t you.W.Singoro WindhoekThe Namibian people are falling in love with local music and are enjoying listening to the sounds of their local artists.Recently the 2006 Sanlam/NBC artist of the year, Lazarus ‘Karandu’ Shiimi, better known as Gazza, launched his new album ‘467 GMP Till I die’.The show was supposed to take place at the Windhoek showgrounds and was moved at the last minute, causing a bit of confusion, and posing questions as to whether people would go to Unam, taking into consideration the distance and costs involved.
